  • New Mexico added 1,100 private sector jobs, or 0.2 percent. on a seasonally adjusted basis during January. In the prior month, New Mexico added 1,800 jobs. New Mexico private sector payroll employment has increased in 8 of the past 12 months.

  • Nationally, private sector payroll jobs rose by 81,000 jobs in January, or 0.1 percent. New Mexico is tied for 12th in the nation for percentage gain in private sector payroll employment over the past 12 months.

  • The best performing sectors on a seasonally adjusted basis during January were Trade, Transportation, and Utilities (900) and Government (600).

  • The poorest performing sectors during the month were Mining and Logging (-400) and Education and Health Services (-500).

  • The best performing sectors during the last 12 months were Education and Health Services (3,800) and Construction (3,000).

  • The poorest performing sectors during the last 12 months were Other Services (-400) and Information (-600).
