WASHINGTON - Today, Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee Mike Lee (R-UT) released the following statement in response to the U.S. Labor Department June 2019 jobs report:
“Congratulations to the American people on another historic month of job creation. The current economic expansion is the longest on record. Workers and businesses created 224,000 jobs last month, strongly beating expectations. The unemployment rate remains historically low, and wages continue to rise, with average hourly earnings up 3.1 percent over the previous year.
