Chairman Lee on July's Employment Numbers
Today, Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee Mike Lee (R-UT) released the following statement in response to the U.S. Labor Department July 2020 jobs report:
"The economy is continuing to recover in July as Americans are finding ways to work safely in the presence of the virus. Payroll jobs grew by 1.8 million in July, a month in which rising infection rates across the U.S. put Americans’ livelihoods in a precarious position, risking reversal of the job gains we’ve seen over the past two months. Improving our employment outlook in coming months will require confidence in our safety procedures, and my hope is that infection rates will fall and the outlook for families, our communities, and businesses will continue to improve as a result of prudent measures."
