On Thursday, February 23, the White House released the annual Economic Report of the President.  In its report the Administration greatly exaggerates the contribution of Administration policies and reaffirms the Administration’s faith in government over free markets.   This Republican Staff Commentary provides a brief overview of and response to the issues that are raised in the report.  For instance, the Administration claims that the job recovery is stronger than in each of the two previous recoveries.  The Administration conveniently neglects to include data from the two more severe recessions of the mid-1970s and early-1980s.  Including those recessions paints a markedly different picture.
