Ranking Member Mike Lee on June Jobs Report

WASHINGTON—Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), Ranking Member of the Joint Economic Committee, made the following statement after the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that the economy added 372,000 jobs in June:

"For months, Congress and the Biden Administration paid Americans not to work and in some cases prohibited work altogether. Those policy choices continue to disincentivize work to this day. We remain 6 million jobs below pre-pandemic trend, growth in the labor force participation rate remains flat, and workers are continuing to see inflation gnaw away at their earnings.

"Returning to the pro-growth policies that brought workers into the labor force before the pandemic is essential to once again deliver prosperity to American families."

The Joint Economic Committee is Congress's bicameral economic research center and home of the Social Capital Project, led by Ranking Member Mike Lee.
