JEC Republicans Respond to President Biden's First Economic Report

WASHINGTON—Today, Ranking Member Mike Lee (R-UT) released the Republican Response to the Biden Administration's 2022 Economic Report of the President.

The Republican Response examines the state of the economy and reviews the Biden Administration's policy choices, which suppressed employment, slowed production, and eroded Americans' purchasing power over the past year. The Response details the adverse effects these policies had on American families. It also notes that President Biden delivered his Economic Report to Congress later in the year than any other in history.

Ranking Member Lee said, "In 2021, President Biden’s incoming Administration implemented policies that slowed employment, stalled production, and eroded purchasing power. The current state of the economy leaves no question that we must rein in the Government spending that erodes Americans’ purchasing power, remove the disincentives that discourage Americans from work, reduce the regulatory barriers that slow the pace of growth, and enable more people to reconnect with the social relationships that provide life with meaning and purpose."

The Response contains detailed recommendations for policymakers on restoring full employment, production, and purchasing power to empower Americans to achieve a more prosperous future.
