Today, Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, released the following statement on the Bureau of Economic Analysis’ GDP estimate for the second quarter of 2020: 

“Today’s 2nd quarter GDP report indicates that the United States has experienced its largest economic decline on record and the American people have suffered. But we are a resilient nation, and we have witnessed communities come together to help their neighbors in need, and businesses make every effort to reopen safely and provide for the neighbors they serve. The medical community has responded with dedicated service and efforts to innovate new treatments, and many banks and landlords have shown compassion by allowing forbearance. Although the Coronavirus pandemic is a trying time for our nation, we can get through it together.”
