Chairman Lee on July's Strong Employment Numbers

WASHINGTON - Today, Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee Mike Lee (R-UT) released the following statement in response to the U.S. Labor Department July 2019 jobs report:

As we enter the second half of the year, the labor market continues to signal a strong economy. In July, 164,000 jobs were added, and the unemployment rate held constant at 3.7 percent. Both part-time employment for economic reasons and long-term unemployment hit pre-recession lows. Wage growth is holding steady, with average hourly earnings ticking up to 3.2 percent over the past year. These numbers reflect a continuation of the longest economic expansion in U.S. history."
