The share of Americans in the workforce has taken a dive.
The portion of Americans working or actively looking for work has fallen to 62.8 percent, nearly 3 percentage points below the level when the recovery started.

The decline can’t be explained solely by Baby Boomers retiring, since those over age 60 have increased their participation and the share of those in their prime working years remains below the level when the recession ended.
