JEC Republicans Release Report on the State of Entrepreneurship
WASHINGTON, DC—Chairman Dan Coats (R-Ind.) and Vice Chairman Pat Tiberi (R-OH) released a Joint Economic Committee majority report examining the state of entrepreneurship.
Today, entrepreneurs face exceptional challenges, including lack of financing, regulation from all levels of government, and a culture that emphasizes surety over the rewards of risk-taking. Creative personal energy and risk-taking drive entrepreneurship and require the freedom to experiment, the right to compete, and the right to reap the rewards from economic success.
The report concludes that policymakers can encourage startup growth by:
- Addressing and reforming regulations that negatively affect startups and impede their growth
- Highlighting impediments to creative destruction
- Keeping innovation permissionless with few barriers
- Encouraging risk-taking that is the hallmark of productive entrepreneurs
