Coats Statement on March Jobs Report
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Joint Economic Committee Chairman Dan Coats (R-Ind.) issued the following statement regarding today’s report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) that the U.S. economy added 215,000 nonfarm payroll jobs in March, the unemployment rate ticked up from 4.9 to 5.0 percent and the labor force participation rate is 63.0 percent:
“While the workforce improved in March, clearly we can do more to energize our economy. Too many Americans have been unemployed for too long, and many workers continue in part-time positions. Simplifying our tax code and reducing regulations will encourage growth. We need a president willing to work with Congress to improve economic growth, rather than just accept our current economy as ‘good enough.’”
