WASHINGTON D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Chairman of the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee (JEC), released the following statement on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ August 2012 jobs report showing that the unemployment rate dropped slightly to 8.1 percent:
“Today we learned that the economy added 96,000 jobs in August, marking 30 consecutive months of private sector job growth. Even though the economy added jobs last month, too many Americans are still struggling to find work. When Congress returns next week, Democrats and Republicans should immediately begin to work together on legislation that will create jobs and boost economic growth right away. “
