Statement from JEC Vice Chair Klobuchar on September 2013 Employment Report

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Vice Chair of the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee (JEC), released the following statement on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ September 2013 jobs report showing that 148,000 total nonfarm jobs were added and the unemployment rate dropped from 7.3% to 7.2%:

“September’s job report is an indication that while our economy continued to add jobs in the month leading up to the government shutdown, we cannot afford to risk economic growth because of political posturing over our fiscal policy.”
