Heinrich, Schumer Highlight Lowered Costs for Families Across the Country

Washington, D.C.— Today, Democrats on the Joint Economic Committee, chaired by U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM), and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released state fact sheets that highlight how Democrats are putting money back into families’ pockets through the passage of the Infrastructure Law and Inflation Reduction Act.

These numbers underscore how Democrats are saving families money on essential needs like prescription drugs, health insurance, electricity bills, and other utilities.

“The data is clear: the transformative investments we secured through the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Law are working — slashing costs for working families on everything from health care to utilities. Thanks to Democrats, over 56,000 New Mexicans are now paying less for their health insurance each month. And soon, homeowners in New Mexico will be able to make energy efficiency upgrades that could save them up to $770 on their annual energy bills. This is what putting working families first and building the middle class looks like,” said Senator Heinrich.

“Last Congress, Senate Democrats – and the Biden-Harris Administration – kept their promise to deliver for American families,” said Leader Schumer. “Now, lower costs on prescription drugs, health insurance, electricity, internet, and more means more money in the pockets of folks across New York and the country. The middle and working class is just now beginning to reap the benefits of the transformational legislation that was passed.”
