JEC Chairman Heinrich on Third Quarter GDP Growth

Washington, D.C.— Today, Senator Martin Heinrich (D-NM), Chairman of the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee (JEC), released the following statement after the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) reported its initial estimate that real third-quarter gross domestic product (GDP) expanded 2.8% on an annual basis.

“The economy is better today than it was four years ago, before the Biden-Harris administration took office, and the proof is in the data. Wages are outpacing inflation. Inflation is coming down. And we’ve seen nearly four years of robust job gains and economic growth that has exceeded expectations.

“All signs are pointing to a strong and growing economy thanks to bold fiscal policies by Democrats. To sustain this growth we need to keep pushing for policies that create jobs, support workers, and grow the middle class. I’ll continue fighting to do just that.”
