Representative Don Beyer, Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, will host a roundtable discussion titled “The Economic Costs of Alzheimer’s Disease” on Tuesday, July 19, 11am - 12pm in 2020 Rayburn.
Over 6 million Americans are currently living with Alzheimer’s disease, which costs the U.S. economy an estimates $321 billion in 2022, in addition to an estimated $271 billion in unpaid caregiving. By 2050, the number of Americans living with Alzheimer’s is expected to reach 12.7 million, bringing the total cost to nearly $1 trillion each year.
This event will gather Members of Congress, representatives of the Biden Administration, and a panel of experts to learn more about the economic toll of Alzheimer’s. Attendees will discuss steps that Congress can take to lessen the economic impact and prevalence of this disease.
