WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M), Ranking Member of the Joint Economic Committee, released the following statement today after the Bureau of Economic Analysis announced gross domestic product (GDP) data for the 3rd quarter:
“Today's GDP numbers show the resiliency of the economy this administration inherited. Instead of building on this foundation, President Trump has created a climate of uncertainty, neglected Americans in the wake of disaster, and failed to advance any agenda that will create the good jobs American workers need.
“Since January, wages for workers have fallen in 26 states and the District of Columbia. Yet, Republicans have been on a partisan crusade to take health care away from millions of Americans and cut taxes for billionaires, while leaving a $5.6 trillion hole in our budget. Republicans have also continued their efforts to roll back rules that protect consumers.
“There is too much at stake for working families across this country to accept these partisan politics. I stand ready to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find common ground and compromise that can move our country forward.”
