JEC Chairman Casey's Statement on August Jobs Report

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Senator Bob Casey (D-PA), Chairman of the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee (JEC), released the following statement on the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ August jobs report showing that the unemployment rate held at 9.1% and the number of nonfarm jobs was unchanged:

“Today’s Employment Report shows that we need stronger economic growth to put more unemployed Americans back to work. Washington must take immediate action to boost employment, including the creation of a national manufacturing strategy, targeting unfair trade practices and the extension of Trade Adjustment Assistance, and strengthening job training programs for workers. I have already put forward job creation ideas that will support these goals, and I will continue to push Congress and the Administration to adopt these proposals.”
