Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, Chair of the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) convened a hearing to examine the Congressional Oversight Panel’s (COP) June report to Congress, which provided the panel’s assessment of the stress tests and the implications the tests have had for the ongoing mission of TARP and the institutions using its resources.  COP Chair Elizabeth Warren testified at the hearing entitled, “TARP Accountability and Oversight: Measuring the Strength of Financial Institutions” on Tuesday June 9, 2009 at 10:00 am in room 210 of the Cannon House Office Building.  Chairwoman Warren testified about the government stress test evaluations of financial institutions, the impact of the results on restoring market confidence, and the panel’s current oversight activities as they relate to the TARP program.
