Washington D.C. – Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, chair of the Joint Economic Committee (JEC), convened a hearing on the newly released employment figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).  Senator Amy Klobuchar (D- MN) presided over the hearing entitled, “The Employment Situation: April 2009” on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 9:30 am in Dirksen Room 106.  BLS commissioner Keith Hall testified to recent developments in the labor market, as the JEC continues a series of hearings examining the causes and ongoing effects of the financial crisis and the economic downturn.
