Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Carolyn B. Maloney, Chair of the Joint Economic Committee (JEC), chaired a hearing on the newly released employment figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).  The hearing, entitled “The Employment Situation: January 2009,” was held Friday, February 6, 2009 at 9:30 am in Dirksen Room 106.  Following twelve straight months of job losses, BLS commissioner Keith Hall testified to recent developments in the labor market and answered questions on national employment trends.
